Ahh what a beautiful evening

James 2:20-21 "Do you want to be shown, you foolish person, that faith apart from works is useless? Was not Abraham our father justified by works when he offered up his son Isaac on the alter?"

God, at first glance this seems either quite cryptic or quite simple, so show me something to do really well at work tomorrow. Amen.

Useless is pretty bad. That means that its just in the way. Something that is in existence but serves no purpose whatsoever. It would, in fact, be better if it did not exist at all. Faith has been accompanied by works all along.

If my heart is really believing something, as mentioned before, then my actions, which proceed from this faithful heart, will act in a certain and appropriate way.

So talk is after all quite cheap. I can say anything, but it is just empty until I do what I say or follow through. Perhaps actions are how I need to communicate more often. This makes me things that being slow to speak and quick to listen is one of the wisest pieces of advice ever.

Please make me quick to care, and hence quick to listen, not just hear. I love theory, and find living things out is dreadfully difficult. Help. Help me not just be a camouflaged reptile adjusting to each environment change, but to live life for you, and purposely so. Thanks for your overwhelming patience and faithfulness. I love you. Amen
