There were a couple things that didn't get saved (Friday I think) hence the repeat. Whell then... seeya later...
James 2:1-4 "My brothers, show no partiality as you hold the faith in our Lord Jesus CHrist, the Lord of glory, For if a man wearing a gold ring and fine clothing comes into your assenbly, and a poor man in shabby clothing also comes in, and if you pay attention to the one who wears the fine clothing and say, 'You sit here in a good place,' while you say to the poor man, 'You stand over there,' or, 'Sit down at my feet,' have you not then made distinctions among yourselves and become judges with evil thoughts?"
James 2:5 "Listen, my beloved brothers, has not God chosen those who are poor in the world to be rich in faith and heirs of the kingdom, which he has promised to those who love him?"
We need to start by asking God to do an ordinary miracle. Father, please open my mind and heart by your Holy Spirit. Thank you for your Word and sending your Son to save us to be with you. Help me to see and Cherish this Gospel now.
How much money makes me rich? Am I rich compared with Kobe Bryant and his multi million dollar contract and large endorsement contracts with various companies (or lack thereof post allegations) Usually the Bible tends to steer clear of relativistic language and I think this is no exception. Another observation is that those who are:
-poor in the world
-heirs of the kingdom
-lovers of God
-rich in faith
are all talking about the same people. So are there Christians with a lot of money? Well, it is surely the case that Christians do tend to have some money, and in unequally distributed amounts. So, Christians are richer and poorer than each other. This leads to what our definition of wealth is. Handling large or small amounts of money cannot guarantee anything. Spending $5 bucks well instead of throwing away a single dollar is obviously better, but richer. So it comes down to our hearts, (what a surprise).
Money represents status, spending power, social influence, access to luxurious foods, clothing, means of transportation etc.... It is our way of taking care of needs and wants, whether ours or those of those around us, and if we hold this not as ultimate but hold onto God Almighty as our strength and help in time of trouble, then money is going to look completely different to us.
Increase my account of faith, for all the money I work all week and month and year is here and gone, forgotten quite quickly. But faith is in you, that you truly did send your son, the God Man Son and The Christ, who came in physical lowliness rather than in glory. He that came to suffer on our behalf, to take your punishment of our every mistake and wash them all clean with the blood spilled at the scourging post and the blood let by the humiliating crown of thorns and that blood soaked rugged cross. Father, I only care about the present hour left to myself. I am the true embodiment of weakness. Be my strength cause I cannot ever work myself up to it. Thank you in advance. Amen
