JT style baby,
But seriously. Justified is an important concept for us to grasp. If God is the judge, we must understand the vocabulary in his courtroom, and how the sentencing works. It would be quite ignorant to not show up to a big case with God (which isn't an option anyways) or to show up with no knowledge of what is going on when you are about to be set free or sentenced for life. But oh so much longer than a life sentence.
That is what this life is all about in the long run. Getting ready ourselves ready for this day, and getting others ready around us, helping out others and then enlightening the ignorant.
Enough intellectual discussion, how about what the Bible says what this really is. Let's go to Romans.
Romans 3 talks about justification by grace through Christ. The sermon on the mount in Matthew talks about a standard of perfection. If we were left to our own, we would have righteous deeds of filthy rags, according to Isaiah. Hopeless and guilty, with inevitable punishment awaiting us. No way of escape, since no amount of goodness can undo wrongdoing against almighty God.
Justified by Christ's blood alone. The moment I reference myself doing anything bedsides depending on Him I stand condemned on death row, awaiting eternity apart from happiness, grace and glory in the presence of the justifier and perfect judge.
So make me utterly dependent on you, not only spiritual things, but day to day activities when I feel quite weak and apathetic. Help me be able to appreciate more what has been done at calvary. Make me a better announcer of this wonderful and dreadful news. Help me, I really do need it. Amen
