Natural life reveals much about the character of God-
Cities, nature, families, governments, work, romance, art, music, law and order, among several others.
When Jesus talks about discipleship (as well as models it through the 3 years of his ministry) it is confirming to find Yahweh's silent applause thousands of years later, encoring all that was designed in the father/ mother relationships with their kids. That is to say, parents have a built in natural knowledge to accomplish the supernatural. The parallels are remarkable- when their child is first born, Mom is with this new high maintenance member of society every few hours. He is completely dependent on her. They, paternal and maternal units, form this little piece of clay, this blank canvas, forming and molding and revising it through highs and lows, thick and thin, with their natural disciple seeing all facets of life firsthand. Working through conflict, having to earn an allowance, getting some swats for stepping out of line......
So, God is committed to His people in the very design of their existence. Their training and completion is directly proportional to the very survival of their offspring, and sets the blueprint for spiritual growth and "reproduction", one that has been sustained for almost 2000 years now....
